Hay fields in Parkdale
Parkdale is the most southerly community nearest Mt. Hood in the Hood River Valley. Here there is evidence of the ongoing and thriving agricultural lifestyle that has supported so many here for so long. Tourism and recreation have started to play a small role in the local economy, but not nearly as much as the largery town of nearby Hood River. Parkdale is the closest town to Mt. Hood and the winter recreation sites offered there. It is also the last stop on the very popular Mt. Hood Railroad. It is also the midway point for the Hood River Valley Scenic Drive and there are always fruit and vegetable stands to tempt the casual tourist.
